Holy fucking shit! The Airforce blows

I complain A LOT about medical malpractice lawsuits in the United States. It’s the main reason that I hate most attorneys. People don’t seem to understand that doctors are human beings NOT GODS. They are specially trained and will do their best, but are not infallible. While it is difficult when someone you love is hurt or killed by a medical mistake, bankrupting a physician who has saved countless other lives is absurd. That being said, I am a supporter of suing doctors when the “mistake” is a clear-cut case of negligence – like being drunk on the job, or whatever the hell is wrong with you that a simple laparoscopic gallbladder removal results in THE LOSS OF SOMEONE’S FUCKING LEGS!!!!!

A Texas Airman stationed at an Air Force Base near Sacramento, Calif. has lost both legs after surgeons reportedly botched a routine surgery to remove his gallbladder. Colton Read, 20, underwent laproscopic surgery last week at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base near Sacramento. Laproscopic surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that involves making a tiny incision to minimize pain and speed recovery time. About an hour into the surgery, something went wrong. Read's wife Jessica told CBS11TV.com. "A nurse runs out, 'we need blood now' and she rounds the corner and my gut feelings is 'oh my God, is that my husband?'" Jessica Read said. Read's wife said an Air Force general surgeon mistakenly cut her husband's aortic valve, which supplies blood to the heart, but waited hours to transport Colton Read to a state hospital with a vascular surgeon. Read, who is still in intensive care, lost both legs as a result of the blood loss. Meanwhile, his gallbladder still has not been removed. Jessica Read said the doctor admitted his mistake, but under federal law the Reads cannot sue. The future of Colton Read's career is now uncertain, FOX 40 in Sacramento reported. Jessica Read told FOX 40 she is appalled that the Air Force is even considering medical retirement or medical discharge while Airman Read is incapable of making any type of decision. She said he is not 100 percent lucid and is still heavily medicated. The Air Force is conducting a review of the case using outside experts. [Source: Foxnews.com]

Jesus Christ, man! Did you go to Hollywood Upstairs Medical College too? How do you snip an aortic valve and take the position of “Eh, let’s not rush him to a better-equipped hospital, let’s play it by ear, see what happens if we wait.” While there are situations in which doing too much can hurt the patient, that doesn’t apply for people who are hemorrhaging at an alarming rate. If you didn’t catch it up there, let me draw your attention to the fact that, in one of the few cases in which I actually would condone, nay support, a malpractice lawsuit, the injured party cannot legally sue. That’s right folks, you cannot sue the federal government, thus, you cannot sue any branch of the military, including their half-retarded doctors. So, in addition to losing his legs, he also loses out on any chance of justice. Also, he’s getting fired. “God Bless America. My home, sweet home.”
